Ohh, what is happening to lolita?! I haven't been away that long, have I? I looked at daily_lolita today, and in at least the first 3-4 posts the girls all wore wigs. More seem to be wearing wigs than not. It makes me sad to see. It seems okay when they look natural, and you can't tell they are wigs, and maybe it's been going on longer and I didn't notice, but I guess I just prefer people's real hair. Now it's so obvious and seems to go against lolita, in a way. Maybe I'm silly for feeling this way, but I feel like lolita should be free and happy and natural. Not so plastic and fake. It doesn't seem beautiful to me. =/

Opinions? I'd love to hear what you all think of the subject, as I value the different viewpoints of everyone on my friend list. :]

I noticed that over the last few days too. I mean there was always someone wearing a wig, but it's been ridiculous lately. I don't like it either. It feels more like cosplay. -.-' As much as I hate my real hair, I'd never use a wig in lolita.

Very true-too cosplayish in most cases. There are a few people who can make coloured ones look good, like certain OTT sweet coordinates, but most don't look that great.

it's a trend ^^ some years ago nobody wore wigs in lolita! except for japanese girls of course, because they have no natural blond hair ;D
I'm also more on the natural side... and prefer real hair styling over wigs

I suppose so. But like all trends, it will fade sooner or later.
I understand that not everyone has time to style their hair, especially on a daily basis (I know I certainly don't!), but I'd rather have boring hair, I guess. I know some people think that is un-lolita, too. Haha.

Hi! I often visit your journal but I think it's my first comment ^^*
I agree with you concerning wigs. It looks more like a disguise than a real "everyday-look" to me. It doesn't fit to my tastes but I don't think it's ugly, I just can't think of it in a other way than disguise.
I also prefer to take care of my hair and try my best to have it nice than hiding it under a wig, even if it's beautiful, with a nice volume, I think lolita clothes and make up is far enough to create a good look. It's too much for me ^^

I apologise for my bad english, it's kind of awkward but I like to write in english, it's a good exercise ♥

Hello! :]
I totally agree with you, though some people make it look very natural, and I would never guess they wear wigs! It's the more obvious ones that bother me, I think.

No worries, your english is fine!

Ah, I have to disagree a little bit, but I do understand where you are coming from. I have to say sadly I only wear wigs when I wear lolita now, on the sheer basis that its really difficult to style my natural hair. My hair is naturally curly, thick, and frizzy, or as some would call it "black girl" hair (for lack of a better term xD), and whenever I knew I'd be wearing lolita, I would have to re-wash my hair, dry it and have it pressed with a hair curler or hot comb, and the whole process is just time consuming, tiring, and a little painful (getting burned by the curling iron). So that's why I prefer wigs now, in and out of lolita also, but I don't wear them 24/7. I do like my natural hair though, but I like more elaborate styles with lolita so I like to wear my wigs. My wigs are also much longer than my natural hair is now, and more low maintenance than when I actually had long natural hair and had to straighten and style it myself.

All I own are natural-looking wigs though, because funny colored ones or bright blonde would not look very good with my skintone, so I shy away from them. But the wigs I own are a couple shades lighter brown than my natural hair is, which I like, and I don't have to color my real hair that color.

Anyway, I'm babbling, I do get where you're coming from. If it counts for anything, I don't even wear makeup with lolita, or even at all. I just like wigs for their easiness rather than any fakeness the more natural the better :)

That makes complete sense, and I can understand why you would. I can't even tell that you wear wigs!
I do love "black girl" hair, though, and am sometimes jealous of it. XD Two of my nieces are biracial, and their hair is always so cute! My hair, on the other hand, barely holds curls. =/
Either way, you always look super adorable. <3

Ahh that's good! Most people just think it's my real hair anyway is right :)
It's funny, it's like everyone usually wants a different kind of hair from their own. I'd love to have my hair stay straight and neat whenever I want. I did get a hair perm, but my hair is still more or less the same, just a little less thick than it used to be. My hair is pretty much "in-betweenish" because even though I'm not immediately biracial (like both my parents and their parents are black) but I know somewhere there was some Portuguese mixing of some kind in my family a long long time ago, at least so they say :) People usually think me and my parents are hispanic~ But their just both from the Caribbean islands (Jamaica and Barbuda), a lot of racial mixing there. I guess that's how my hair is how it is? :D

Yeah, I know what you mean! I have a friend who has the loveliest curly hair, and she really wanted it straight. We all thought she was crazy. XD
It's really interesting though, how genetics work like that. Of course, my hair is totally boring and slightly wavy, while my dad's is super straight and my mom's is curly. Figures. Haha.
